Libby Marking Named Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy At National Wildlife Refuge Association

Washington D.C. โ€” May 20th, 2022

The National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA) recently named Libby Marking as the Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy. Libby will work closely with Congress and the Administration to promote federal conservation funding and policy affecting the National Wildlife Refuge System.  She also will lead the Cooperative Alliance for Refuge Enhancement (CARE).

โ€œLibby has eight years of experience working for Congress, a national wildlife conservation nonprofit organization, a federal agency, and a bipartisan government relations firmโ€. said Geoffrey L. Haskett, President of the National Wildlife Refuge Association. โ€œHer experience and knowledge will help her excel in her new role with the National Wildlife Refuge Association.โ€

Before accepting this position with NWRA, Marking worked for the National Audubon Society as the Senior Manager of Government Affairs advocating for wildlife conservation at the federal level. She was the primary liaison between the Audubon Society and congressional offices, managing the sage-grouse and public lands policy portfolio while providing assistance when needed on all other policy priorities, such as invasive species and forage fish management.

Previously, she was Legislative Assistant in the Office of Senator Heidi Heitkamp and a Research Assistant in the Office of Senator Tim Johnson.  While at the Department of the Interior she worked as an Advisor to the Deputy Secretary and Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary.

Libby has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and French; Minor in Political Science from South Dakota State University.
