Heather Meier

Heather is an experienced finance and operations executive with a strong record of accomplishment across both for-profit and non-profit sectors. Passionate about conservation and sustainable community development, Heather brings a unique blend of strategic vision and operational expertise to mission-driven boards and organizations.

Heather began her career at General Mills through its finance executive development program, holding ten progressively senior roles. A key achievement was leading the company’s first global finance process transformation across 20+ sites in 10 countries. As the first global process owner, she managed a team of 100+ overseeing $12B in annual payables and $150M in expense reporting.

Driven by her passion for conservation, Heather made a deliberate decision to leave General Mills and join The Nature Conservancy, the largest conservation organization in the world, as Chief Finance and Operations Officer for the Global External Affairs Division. Reporting directly to the Chief External Affairs Officer, she led finance, HR, IT, administration, and compliance functions.

She then became the founding Chief Finance and Operations Officer (CFO/COO) of the American Clean Power Association (ACP), the first U.S. trade association to unify all renewable energy technologies. Heather played a central role in strategic planning, organizational design, growth, and operational leadership, helping ACP contribute to the landmark passage of the renewable energy components of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Currently, Heather serves as CFO/COO of Minnesota Realtors, the state's largest and one of the oldest, professional trade associations, where she oversees all aspects of finance, HR, IT, and operations.

Heather is a founding member of the Save the Boundary Waters national campaign and serves on the board of Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration–Accounting and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics with a focus on Economic & Community Development (from Penn State).

An avid camper, canoer, hiker, runner and cyclist, Heather enjoys exploring outdoor spaces-especially our treasured public lands. She lives in Monticello, MN with her husband, Logan, and their three terriers—Augie, Lily May, and Violet.
