Bill Millar
Bill Millar joined the National Wildlife Refuge Association Board of Directors in 2025. He is also an officer of the Board of Directors of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society in Sanibel, Florida, the Friend’s organization that supports the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. He is a member and supporter of several other conservation organizations as well.
Bill retired after a 40+ year career in the public Transportation field finishing as president of the American Association of Public Transportation in 2011. He was raised in Euclid, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. As an avid sailor he learned what happens when a natural habitat is nearly destroyed by man’s careless exploitation and how nature can repair itself when the sources of pollution are reduced.
A frequent traveler, he and his wife Barbara often visit public lands across the country and around the world. Bill holds a B.A. degree in Geography from Northwestern University and an M.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa. The Millars have two children and seven grandchildren.
