Land and Water Conservation Fund Expires September 30, 2018

The nation’s most important land acquisition program, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is set to expire on September 30, 2018 – Congress must act! If Congress does not reauthorize LWCF, there will be no funding for vital wildlife conservation land acquisition projects on national wildlife refuges next year.

FY18 Omnibus Appropriations Bill — What’s In It?

On March 23, 2018, President Trump signed a final omnibus appropriations bill for fiscal year 2018 (FY18) which included many wildlife conservation priorities. The fiscal year officially began on October 1, 2017 but the government has been funded through a series of “Continuing Resolutions” since then. This funding bill will fund the government until September 30, 2018. In the meanwhile, work is already underway on fiscal year 2019 bill.

Important Conservation Easements Established in Everglades Headwaters National Wildlife Refuge and Conservation Area

National Wildlife Refuge Association Applauds President’s FY 2017 Budget

Budget request includes a recommendation to fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund at $900 million, and $506.6 million for the Refuge System’s Operations and Maintenance budget, which is an increase over the current FY16 budget ($481 million).

Land and Water Conservation Fund Reauthorized for Three Years & Proposed Road through Izembek National Wildlife Refuge Rejected

Of the $450 million for LWCF, the Refuge System will receive $68.5 million for projects next year.
