Liz began working as the National Wildlife Refuge Association’s South Florida Regional Partnership Specialist in March 2022. She has experience in education, law, and non-profit work and is particularly interested in urbanism and environmental justice    

Liz engages in environmental advocacy efforts and works with the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge staff to grow the Urban Wildlife Refuge Program in South Florida. By fostering partnerships with schools, religious groups, and other community-based organizations, Liz hopes to complement and expand upon the Refuge’s current Urban Program.

Liz is a native of Washington, D.C. and, as the daughter of two career diplomats with the United States Department of State, Liz spent her childhood living abroad in Russia, Belgium, and Spain. Liz is of Puerto Rican descent and speaks fluent Spanish in addition to proficient French.

Liz earned a master’s degree in Coastal Zone Management from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (RSMAS) in 2021
