Nancy Marshall

Nancy Marshall, a retired business executive and the consummate philanthropist, serves on the Board of Directors for the Everglades Foundation shepherding the John Marshall Everglades Legacy’s Summer Intern Program for undergraduate students and the Annual Everglades Symposium for the general public continuing the work and legacy of her late husband, John A. Marshall.

A Dame of Grace in the Sovereign Order of St. John, Palm Beach Commandery Nancy serves on the Board of Trustees and supports a critically needed development center to benefit the children of Belle Glade, Florida as the Fundraising Chairperson.

Nancy serves on the Board of Directors of the National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA) based in Washington DC. Before joining the NWRA board, she presented workshops on behalf of NWRA and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife nationally promoting environmental stewardship and ethnic diversity in the country’s parks and refuges delivering programs connecting children with the environment. In 2010, Nancy was awarded the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Regional Director’s Award for championing efforts to provide a state-of-the-art interpretive Everglades’ exhibit at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.

Nancy also serves as Chair of the Josette Kaufman Annual Everglades Through the Eyes of Children photo project and annual Josette Kaufman scholarship Award (in memory of her daughter Josette) for the Sacred Heart School in Lake Worth, Florida.

From 2001 to 2017, prior to its transition to the Everglades Foundation, Nancy was President of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades (ARMF) - a nonprofit organization devoted to developing, promoting and delivering award-winning, science-based environmental education and public outreach programs central to the restoration of the Everglades ecosystem. She is lauded for negotiating numerous community partnerships with like-minded organizations to encourage the next generation as stewards of the environment.

As a community leader, Nancy served on the Board of Directors and is past President of YWCA of Palm Beach County where she lobbied for women’s rights, implemented outdoor programs for girls aged 8-13 and was instrumental in adopting measurable strategic plans. Other significant acknowledgements include recognition as one of Palm Beach County’s “Best and Brightest Women” by the Lupus Foundation of America, SE Florida Chapter and celebrated as an “unsung hero” for spearheading the 2010 Everglades Coalition Conference. 

The retired Marriott Marketing Executive and retired Marketing Consultant to Pine Jog Environmental Education Center/ Florida Atlantic University is a past President of the Fine Arts Association, Gainesville Florida; honorary Chairwoman, Belfair Artists Association, Washington DC; honorary member Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority; co-recipient of 2001 “Conservationist of the Year” award from the Audubon Society of the Everglades and co-authored Everglades Restoration, Cypress Tree Planting, McGraw Hill.

Nancy is also recipient of the George M. Barley Conservationist of the Year Award; Executive Women of the Palm Beaches annual Women in Leadership Award Volunteer Sector and the Girl Scouts Emerald Award for Environmental Leadership.

Nancy resides in West Palm Beach and is the widow of Col. John Arthur Marshall, founder and Chairman of the Board of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades.
